IELTS Academic Writing part 1.

The diagrams compare two stone tools from 1.4 million and 800,000 years ago, each shown from the front, side and back. Overall, the newer tool has a more regular and thinner shape and a more pointed top, while the older one appears more crudely made, with uneven edges.

From the front, the one from 1.4 million years ago has an uneven shape, with a narrow top and a wider, rounder bottom. In contrast, the more recent one is more regular, starting with a sharp point at the top and becoming wider towards the bottom.

Turning to the side views, a difference in thickness can be seen. The older one is thick and has uneven edges, whereas the more recent one is thinner and smoother, as well as being long and narrow with a sharp point at the top.

The back views also differ. The older tool has a less regular shape, several chipped areas, a wider bottom and a narrower top. The more recent one, on the other hand, looks more regular and similar to its front view, with a wide, round bottom, a narrow, pointed top and fewer chipped areas.

The tool + becomes + narrower + towards the top.

The bottom + is + wider + than the top.

The edges + become + more uneven + towards the bottom.

The tool has a narrow top, with a wide, round bottom.
The older tool has an uneven shape, with several damaged areas.

The tool becomes narrower towards the top.
The sides become wider towards the bottom.
The edges become more uneven towards the bottom.

the tool features a pointed upper section                      the tool has a sharp top
the lower extremity is rounded                         the bottom is round
a considerable disparity can be observed                    there is a clear difference
the surface exhibits considerable roughness                   the surface is quite rough
the surface contains several prominent indentations           the surface has several deep marks
prominent chipped areas                  large damaged areas/parts

The top is narrow and pointed.
The bottom is wide and round.
The edges are uneven.
The newer tool is longer and narrower.

The tool is long and narrow, with a wide bottom.

Последнее предложение в первой части просит нас сделать следующее: summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Task Achievement.

The newer tool is thinner than the older one.
The newer tool is also thinner on the side.

The newer tool is thinner than the older one, particularly in the side view.

The older tool is more thick than the newer one.                     - The older tool is thicker than the newer one.
The newer tool is more smoother than the older one.             - The newer tool is  smoother than the older one.
The older tool is thicker that the newer one.                             - The older tool is thicker than the newer one.
The older tool has less chipped areas than the newer one .  — The older tool has fewer chipped areas than the newer one.

The tool has three chipped areas on the left side, two on the right side, a narrow top, a wide bottom, and uneven edges. It is also slightly wider at the bottom than at the top. The newer tool has a pointed top, a wider bottom, smooth edges, and fewer chipped areas. It is long and narrow, and the bottom is rounded.

The older tool has a less regular shape, with uneven edges and several chipped areas, whereas the newer one is more regular and smoother, with fewer chipped areas and a more pointed top.
